SP continued...

This is my friend and her roommate in the bedroom/living room of their house(there were basically 2 rooms). I stayed in SP area for 5 nights (in different places).

The kitchen and dining area: one thing that surprised me was how tiny the sink was – super small and VERY shallow. Can’t make too many dirty dishes, I guess!

The bathroom: I only show it to point out how different it is from North America. (Those who have traveled to other third-world areas will probably have seen something similar.) The shower was pretty much right above the toilet, so you had to shower with the seat lifted to avoid getting the plastic wet! There was really no room for a shower curtain, and the floor wasn’t even lower there, so everything got wet and you had to use a squeegee afterwards. :) Also check out the old style of toilet tank… a lot of places now have the tanks hidden inside the wall (how annoying would that be to try to fix?!!) or else on the back of the toilet like we do, but you still see this a lot.

SP is a very hilly city, meaning you get quite the workout when walking around much. These are pictures from right around Su’s house one slightly foggy morning.

(these are small, but you can always click on them to see a bigger image...)
